Bacolod Chicken Inasal, anyone?

January 12, 2006

I have always been a fan of the Bacolod Chicken Inasal eversince I first had a taste of the real thing, flown all the way from Bacolod. Yuuummm!!! Whoever made the recipe of Bacolod Chicken Inasal popular must be filthy rich by now, had he patented his culinary masterpiece… hehe! :-)

After searching long and hard for the real Bacolod Inasal Chicken goodness in Manila, we finally found the best place that offer the closest match to the real thing. The place is called Bacolod Chicken Inasal Express.

The place offers al fresco dining in a corner lot in Savana Market along Pablo Ocampo Ext. fronting Shopwise Pasong Tamo. I live just around this area so pretty much, I am a frequent patron. In most days when I am tired of cooking and washing the dishes, I would just get to-go pecho and a garlic rice. However, this is also a good place to dine in, in the company of friends, when you’re in for a quick lunch or dinner and don’t have the luxury of time to wait in line in your favorite fastfoods.

Here’s how I rate my overall dining experience:

  • TASTE – Best Bacolod Chicken Inasal in Manila!
  • PRESENTATION - Not your yellow chicken in a stick but good enough!
  • SERVICE - Quick and very polite servers
  • CLEANLINESS - Good enough, your food is served on a banana leaf so you know it’s disposable.
  • PRICE – A pecho and a cup of rice costs Php90.00

My apologies for posting no pics on this blog… I know food blogs come alive with the photos but since my camera is broken and we still haven’t bought our 350D, I really don’t have much choice. When I do get my camera, I will try to update my posts with photos.

have you also tried the inasal at bacolod chicken inasal? it’s the best i’ve tasted so far. they have outlets in robinson’s place in ermita, glorietta and sm megamall, and a free-standing restaurant along jupiter. aside from the inasal, i love their (pork) sisig and sizzling bangus steak.

—> it’s a trade secret :) hahaha that’s what makes Bacolod Chiken Inasal click. I doubt that they’re ever gonna share that recipe like other famous restaurants, but you could always go back here in the Philippines and enjoy their chicken every lunch and dinner.. you could also try the Lumpia Ubod, Crispy Crablets Beef Caldereta and Sizzling Chicken Sisig… Man you’re never gonna ran-out of choices here, better try it to believe it.

For those who wants the recipe for Bacolod Chicken Inasal, you can get in in the internet with lots of variations. I don’t think there is a secret recipe. It’s about balancing the sourness, saltiness and sweetness in the marinade and of course, the atsuete in oil they used to barnish the chicken while barbecuing is a factor. But the the best and maybe the original taste of Bacolod Chicken Inasal are the ones sold in the streets of Negros Island. The secret? most of them use native chicken and nothing beats a native one!
